We’ve been a little behind in updating the travel blog because we’ve been devoting more time to some of our other interests on the interwebs! In this “little” recap I’ll go back and tell you where you can find what we’ve been working on lately, details about our next adventure and what travel we’ve done in the last year! So, in the words of P!nk, let’s get this party started! :)
Do you think that five days in a new place can make you feel like a brand new person? I do! I felt that way after going to Austin for South by Southwest Interactive.
No, I didn’t buy a pass to the Conference and no, I didn’t attend a presentation that blew my mind. I just hung out for five days with some amazing and inspiring people.
Jeff usually tends to write posts because I have a hard time coming up with something to write about. He suggested that I write a post to summarize our latest trip so I sat down to write and it just kept on comin’! I wrote so much I had to separate it into multiple posts, so what you’ll find in this post is a little about what we did each day of our cruise and the adventures we went on.
Over the course of our twenty-two day trip we slept in fifteen different locations and over the course of this post I’m going to give the details of everywhere we stayed. As I mentioned previously I used two different iPhone apps to book our lodgings, Hostelworld.com and Booking.com. We wound up staying in hostels, Bed & Breakfasts & hotels.
Before leaving on our trip I decided I wanted to take a cooking class while we were in Italy. I had no idea how to find a place or how much it would cost, I only knew I wanted to do it …and boy did we enjoy the experience!!!
In the words of Sheldon Cooper, “We’re taking the train” (we love that show, and can’t wait to watch the season premiere when we get back…but on another note.) As far as transportation is concerned we have taken a plane, metro (the underground), many trains, trams, buses, boats, 2 taxis and relied A LOT on the power of our own two feet! But I wanted to address a few questions that were asked in the comments from an earlier post specifically relating to our train travels.
Throughout our vacation the plan was that Jeff would be able to work on the go, and in order for that to happen along with us being able to travel anywhere at the same time, our only requirement was a solid internet connection. We also have become dependent on our instant GPS access through our iPhones at home and couldn’t wait to use that on the go! What follows are our trials and errors so far, of searching for that lifeline: Internet Access!
